The 2027 Healthy Michigan Plan changes
- Work requirements apply only to people ages 19 to 64 on the Healthy Michigan Plan.[2]
- For current members, they apply at renewals dated on or after March 1, 2027.[2]
- You can meet them with at least 80 hours in a month of approved activities, such as paid or unpaid work, a work program, volunteering, or school.[2]
- Exemptions include, but aren’t limited to, women who are pregnant or newly postpartum, American Indians and Alaska Natives, some people with complex health needs and certain caregivers.[3]
- Most HMP members will move from annual to six-month renewals.[3] MDHHS says you won’t lose coverage without warning.[2]
MDHHS is still updating its guidance after a federal rule released June 1. Check the Healthy Michigan Plan site for the latest.[2]
If your Medicaid is ending
- Respond to every MDHHS notice and update MI Bridges; you may still qualify or be exempt.[2]
- If coverage ends, apply on HealthCare.gov within 90 days of losing Medicaid.[1]
- Estimate your income: Marketplace tax credits are based on expected household income.[4] See Healthy Michigan Plan or Marketplace and 2027 subsidies.
