Why we ask: Your ZIP and household size decide which plans and prices you can get. Your phone number and email go to Nexus Benefit Solutions only, to answer this request, and are never sold.

This is a request for help, not an application for coverage. Nexus Benefit Solutions is a private, independent agency and is not affiliated with HealthCare.gov, CMS, the State of Michigan or DIFS. Please don't include medical details in this form.

Short answerYour coverage won’t start until you pay your first premium, and you pay it directly to the insurance company, not the Marketplace.[1] For January 1 coverage, enroll by December 15 and pay that first premium.[2]

How to pay

  1. Log in to your Marketplace account and choose your application.[1]
  2. Select “Pay Your First Health Insurance Monthly Premium,” then “Pay for Health Plan Now” to go to the insurer’s site.[1]
  3. No online payment? The insurer should contact you. If you don’t hear from them, call them.[1]

Confirm you’re covered

  • In your Marketplace account, open “My Plans & Programs” to see your plan and start date.[1]
  • Your plan sends a membership packet and an ID card. No card? Call the insurer to make sure coverage is active.[1]
  • Look through the plan’s provider directory to find where you can get care.[1]

Keep it active

  • Pay every month on time; if you don’t, the insurer could end your coverage.[1]
  • If you use a premium tax credit and have paid at least one full month in the year, the grace period for late premiums is usually 3 months.[3] Without a tax credit it may differ; in Michigan, ask DIFS.[3]
  • Asked for documents to confirm income or other details? Send them by the deadline. See document requests.[4]

The insurance company. Premiums go directly to the insurer, not the Marketplace.
